Do Your Homework

You’ll probably want to do some initial research using your newspaper or the Internet to see exactly what features builders are currently offering, what comes standard and what sort of options are available.

The simplest start for any home search is to study the real estate section of your local newspaper. Also, most builders have Web sites that usually provide photographs, floorplans, perhaps a virtual reality video where you can see a room from every angle, and more. Start with The Toronto Star’s New In Homes Web site,  which provides photographs, maps and plenty of information for you to judge the value of visiting specific development sites.

This comprehensive resource also contains links to builders’ Web sites so you can check out what they’ve done before; separate sections on mortgages (including plain-language definitions); articles on real estate law; and even an area where you can list your housing criteria and be alerted when a suitable new project comes along! Almost all new home builders in the GTA are members of our association, but you can double check by calling us at 416-391-HOME (4663). Our members are professionals committed to the long-term improvement of the industry. They all subscribe to a code of ethics that requires them to deal honestly and fairly with consumers.
